Hermeus Breaks Sound Barrier with Unmanned Jet at Mach 1.21

An American aerospace company has broken the sound barrier for the first time as a private firm. Hermeus flew its Quarterhorse Mk 2.1 aircraft to Mach 1.21 on 26 May 2026. It was only the jet’s third test flight.

UK Air Traffic Failure Strands 700,000 Passengers

On Monday 28 August 2023, the busiest travel day of the British summer, the United Kingdom’s air traffic control system suddenly stopped working properly. A single faulty flight plan caused the failure, and the problem quickly spread across the whole country. More than 700,000 passengers had their journeys disrupted.
