  1. Yes, in general passengers are carrying more hand luggage than in the past and they want bigger storage bins on planes so that they can fit this hand luggage easily in a storage bin close to them.
  2. 4 bags can fit into the standard overhead storage bin.
  3. 6 bags can fit into the new ‘space bin’?
  4. The new ‘space bins’ are 3 inches taller, which allows the bags to sit on their edge, creating the extra room.

In an effort to increase passenger comfort, Boeing has introduced the latest change to their 737, ‘space bins’, which offer passengers more room for their hand luggage.

Boeing’s new 737 Space Bins Hold 50% More Bags

Boeing’s new Space Bins answers the call for more space to stow carry-on bags. Each of the larger Space Bins will hold six standard sized bags, two more than the large current Boeing Sky Interior pivot bins installed on many Next-Generation 737s.

Watch out for the balloon!

Here’s the text to the listening from yesterday.

A flight was on approach to its destination, about 8nm before touchdown when the crew saw a balloon close to their approach path, they contacted ATC to ask about the balloon and ATC told them that the balloon wouldn’t cross their path. As a result, the aircraft continued its approach and landed safely a few minutes later. Airport authorities later contacted local police to investigate the incident.

How do planes fly answers

Here are the answers to last Friday’s video, enjoy!

  1. Lift, gravity, thrust and drag are the primary forces that act on a plane.
  2. When the force of lift created is equal to the force of gravity pulling the plane down, the plane will stay in the air.
  3. It helps it to smash into more air molecules and create lift, which if greater than the force of gravity, help to plane to fly.
  4. The engines overpower the force of drag and move the plane forward.
  5. They’re similar because an engine contains lots of little wings (fan blades) which generate horizontal lift, or more commonly called, thrust.
