  1. It’s focused on their nutritional needs, it’s lightweight, energy dense and nutritionally balanced.
  2. It’s based on everyday food items, and the pilots can choose the items that they like more.
  3. With the suit, they are able to control how hot or cold they are through using layers and openings in the suit. They use base layers which remove moisture from the body and are quick drying. And when it’s cold they use thick jackets that are similar to mountaineers’ jackets. In extremely cold conditions, the pilots can also use heated gloves and heated footwear.

Solar Impulse Airplane – The Pilot’s Food & Clothing – #Discover

Solar Impulse’s pilots have customized diets for the #RTW Solar Flights. This is based on their nutritional needs and tastes. Food is also a form of reward and motivation for the pilots when alone in the sky for several days and nights.

Here are the answers to last Friday’s video, enjoy!

  1. The plane’s batteries were overheated and are now damaged.
  2. It was an error in the evaluation of how to use the batteries in a steep climb, and over-insulation of the battery pack that caused the damage to the batteries.
