Rejected takeoff

Fly High English logo.

Here’s the text to the listening from yesterday.

Enjoy!!

A 737-800, with 123 passengers and 6 crew, was accelerating for takeoff. As the plane reached 130 knots a problem developed and the crew rejected the takeoff. They reported that they had a problem with the tyres which caused the rejected takeoff. The aircraft came to a stop on the runway with both left hand main tyres blown. The tower informed the crew that there was fire from the left main gear and then they closed the runway. The passengers disembarked onto the runway via an airstairs and the runway opened again five hours later, after the aircraft was removed from the runway.
